The U.K.'s aging military infrastructure has been allowed to deteriorate to the point that it is a potential risk to operational readiness, reports the News (Portsmouth, U.K.), citing a new report from the National Audit Office (NAO).
Despite Ministry of Defense plans to sell 25 percent of the defense estate by 2040, there is still an 8.5 billion pound (US$10.7 billion) shortfall in funding needed to maintain and update facilities over the next 30 years, says the NAO.
