Audit Discovers Flaws In Marine MRAP Purchase

Officials failed to option fair prices in a 2007 Marine Corps purchase of thousands of mine-resistant ambush-protected (MRAP) vehicles for Iraq, according to a Pentagon probe cited by the Marine Corps Times.

Marine Corps Systems Command oversaw the Pentagon's multibillion-dollar development of MRAPs, and awarded nine contracts for the armored vehicles in January 2007.
