The South Korean Defense Acquisition Administration (DAPA) has decided to launch a program to buy new anti-submarine warfare (ASW) helicopters in the next few months, reports the Korea Times.
The helicopter project had been set to begin next year, but the schedule has been advanced because of tensions with North Korea, according to an unnamed military source.
The Navy temporarily grounded its fleet of Lynx ASW helicopters last month after two aircraft crashed.
