Assam Rifles Tapped For Duty Against Maoists

India's federal government has decided to send more paramilitary forces to areas hit the hardest by the Maoist insurgency, reports the Calcutta Telegraph.
Paramilitary forces from the Assam Rifles, led by army officers, are expected to be reassigned from border duties in northeast India to Bengal, Jharkhand, Orissa and Chhattisgarh states.
