Gunmen have killed five people in an attack on a small Buddhist village in the Panare district of Thailand's southern Pattani province, reports the Bangkok Post.
Muslim separatists are suspected, noted the BBC.
The assault on Thursday began shortly after the village protection unit ended its night security mission, said police officials.
