The U.S. Navy has certified a new device that will eliminate the need for sailors to enter minefields during minehunting and clearing operations, reports the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA).
The Airborne Surface Quad Thruster Interface Device (ASQUID) is designed to deploy remotely operated minehunting vehicles from helicopters. Air Test and Evaluation Squadron 21 (HX-21) recently completed flight testing to certify the design, NAVSEA announced last week.
