Afghan intelligence officials say they have foiled separate conspiracies to assassinate Afghanistan's vice president and a bomb attack near the presidential palace in Kabul, Reuters reports.
Seven insurgents were arrested about 20 days ago, said a government spokesman.
Five men planned to carry out a heavy assault on the vice president with suicide bombers, said a spokesman for the National Directorate of Security.
