Army Slow To Field Gunshot Sensors

Seven years after they were requested, gunshot sensors are still not being used with combat units in Afghanistan and Iraq, reports USA Today.

Combat units began asking for the weapon locators in 2003. By 2007, an early version was deemed suitable and 1,200 Soldier Wearable Acoustic Targeting Systems (SWATS) were sent to combat troops for evaluation in 2008.
