Army troops in Afghanistan are about to be equipped with a new, "green" bullet called "the best general purpose 5.56-mm round ever" by Army ballistics officials, the Army Times reports.
The M855A1 Enhanced Performance Round, which has a lead-free slug, will replace the current Cold War-era M855 round, developed in the 1970s and approved as an official NATO round in 1980.
