Northrop Grumman says it has received a contract to develop next-generation AN/APR-39E(V)2 radar warning receivers for the U.S. Army.
Details of the contract, which was announced on Monday, were not disclosed.
The AN/APR-39E(V)2, previously known as the Modernized Radar Warning Receiver, will combine Northrop Grumman's digital receiver exciter (DRE) architecture with unique signal-processing algorithms, the release said.
The system will be capable of detecting, locating and identifying more threats, including millimeter wave radars, at a greater range, said a senior company official.
The radar warning receiver is designed to protect aircrews from the latest advanced radar-guided weapons, the company said.
