The Syrian army says it has breached an Islamic State blockade of an government enclave in Deir Ezzor province that has been under siege for nearly three years, reports Agence France-Presse.
Government-controlled parts of Deir Ezzor city have been surrounded by ISIS since January 2015. The city's 70,000 residents have relied on U.N. airdrops for food, medicine and other supplies, noted the Independent (U.K.).
