Faced with a shortage of officers, the Indian government is about to open a new military academy at Gaya in the eastern Bihar state, reports the Indo-Asian News Service.
The army is short of more than 12,500 officers, according to the service.
An initial batch of 200 cadets is expected to begin training as soon as next month at the Gaya Officers Training Academy, said Defense Ministry officials.
The academy will eventually train up to 750 officers annually in two batches. ...
