The U.S. Army and Navy plan to conduct three test-flights of a new hypersonic weapon next year with the goal of rapidly field the system, reports Defense News.
Three test flights of the Common-Hypersonic Glide Body (C-HGB) are scheduled for 2021, Lt. Gen. Neil Thurgood, head of the Army’s hypersonics effort, told the paper on Wednesday.
An aggressive testing schedule is needed if the glide body is to be ready for fielding by fiscal 2023, he said.
