Army May Fly Unarmed Gray Eagle UAVs At Fort Carson, Colo.

The U.S. Army is considering stationing an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) unit at Fort Carson, Colo., reports the Colorado Springs Gazette.

Under the proposal, 12 Gray Eagle unmanned aircraft systems and 128 soldiers would be based at Fort Carson as part of a regiment assigned to a combat aviation brigade at that installation.

The UAV unit would be assigned to Fort Carson in fiscal 2017, according to the proposal. The plan is now open to public comments.
