The U.S. Army is researching the use of new technology in an effort to make artillery shells more lethal, reports the Army News Service.
An Army lab is investigating how to employ structured reactive materials.
Such materials flare and burn when the warhead detonates. This would make future weapons more deadly while maintaining or reducing the payload, according to engineers at the Army's Advanced Materials Lab.
