The Yemeni army has been involved in a series of incidents with Islamist militants in the country's south, Reuters reports.
At least 12 militants and seven soldiers were killed Sunday in two clashes outside Zinjibar, the capital of Abyan province, said military officials.
Also Sunday, in the southern province of Lahej, a local official said two soldiers were killed in a shootout.
