Army Improves, Needs Better Leadership

Top U.S. trainers say the Afghan National Army has demonstrated significant improvement over the last six months, but remains critically short of enlisted and officer leadership, reports the Army Times.

The Afghan military is on track to meet its numeric goals, but lacks independent capability, said Army Brig. Gen. Gary Patton, deputy commander of the NATO Training Mission-Afghanistan and the Army Combined Security Transition Command-Afghanistan.
