The U.S. Army is nearly 14 percent short of its recruiting needs for this year, acknowledges the service's top recruiting officer, as reported by USA Today.
The improving economy has made it harder to attract people to active-duty service, Maj. Gen. Jeffrey Snow, told the newspaper in an interview published Thursday.
Nevertheless, Snow expressed confidence that recruiters would hit the goal of 59,000 new troops by Sept. 30, the end of the fiscal year.
