The Army wants to invest billions of dollars in government-owned munitions factories after a spate of accidents due to hazardous working conditions, reports Breaking Defense.
On Tuesday, service officials told lawmakers that they were seeking $16 billion over 15 years to modernize and automate aging munitions plans, many of which are making explosives in much the same way as they did in the 1940s.
