The U.S. Army plans to assemble a new combat aviation brigade from existing units in the next 12 to 18 months, the Army Times reports.
"This is all coming from existing force structure," said Maj. Gen. James Barclay, commanding general of Fort Rucker, Ala., and the Army Aviation Center of Excellence.
Units that will make up the new brigade will first be sent to Iraq, said Barclay, then integrated into the new command structure upon their return.
