A new report says there have been 1,174 desertions in the South Korean military since 2013, according to the Yonhap news agency.
That figure includes 1,103 from the army, 38 from the air force and a combined 33 from the navy and marine corps, said the report release on Monday by Parliament.
Difficulty in adjusting to military life was the most common reason cited for desertions in the army, according to the report.
