Army Chief To Stay In Post Another 3 Years

The Pakistani government has extended the term of army chief Gen. Ashfaq Parvez Kayani for three years in an effort to maintain continuity in the struggle against Taliban militants near the Afghan border, Bloomberg News reports.
Kayani, 57, was due to retire in November after his three-year term expired. He has led the military over the past year in a series of offensives in Taliban-held areas.
