The Pakistani government has extended the term of the army's top officer for another three years, reports the Dawn (Karachi).
Prime Minister Imran Khan approved the extension for Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa, the military said on Monday.
The announcement came three months ahead of Gen. Bajwa's planned retirement.
Bajwa has overseen an unusually good relationship with the civilian government during the first year of Khan's term in office, noted the newspaper.
