The Ugandan army is in the midst of a week-long project to destroy 250 tons of unwanted weapons, reports the Daily Monitor (Kampala).
The campaign is disposing of land mines, assault rifles, bullets and bombs captured from former rebels, Karimojong cattle rustlers, as well as expired weapons from the security forces, according to a military spokesman.
