Army Awards Contract To Build Full-Rate Production Howitzers

The U.S. Army has awarded BAE Systems a contract to build the full-rate production version of a self-propelled howitzer and companion ammunition carrier vehicles, reports Defense News.
Announced Thursday, the deal covers 48 M109A7 self-propelled howitzers and 48 companion M992A3 ammunition carrier vehicles as part of the low-rate initial production. There is an option to buy 60 full-rate production vehicles annually for the next three years.
