Officials from Chile and Peru are again considering an accord designed to promote mutual trust on weapons procurement, reports the Santiago Times (Chile).
The potential 2+2 arms agreement calls for regular checks and full transparency on weapons and defense spending by the two governments.
The accord was previously considered between 2000 and 2006, but was abandoned after Chile rejected a Peruvian request to reduce its arms spending by 20 percent.
