Approval Granted For 2 Naval East Coast Bases

The Indian government has approved navy plans to build two new facilities on the east coast, Defense News reports.

The locations of the new facilities were not announced. The navy currently has facilities at Vishakapatnma, Karwar, Bombay (Mumbai) and Kochi.

There have been discussions about establishing bases in Paradip in Orissa state and Tuticorin in Tamil Nadu state.

The new installations could house future submarines, naval sources said.
