The Indian government is stepping up efforts to combat Maoist insurgents, reports the Calcutta Telegraph.
India's Home Minister P. Chidambaran provided details of the campaign in a meeting at a paramilitary headquarters.
The government has boosted funding under the security-related expenditure (SRE) program for 83 districts in nine states affected by Maoist violence from US$17.5 million to US$127 million for this fiscal year, said the ministry.
