South Korean troops have fired warning shots across the demilitarized separating North and South Korea, turning back North Korean soldiers apparently chasing a defecting comrade, say officials cited by CBS News.
The soldier, in his late teens or early 20s, crossed under heavy fog early Thursday, said South Korean officials. The defection took place in the northeastern province of Gangwon, reported South Korean broadcaster KBS.
