The U.S. Navy has received its third Independence-class littoral combat ship, reports the Naval Sea Systems Command.
The future USS Jackson (LCS-6) was handed over Tuesday at the Austal USA shipyard in Mobile, Ala.
The ship is scheduled to conduct full ship shock trials off the coast of Florida before sailing to her homeport of San Diego in late 2016, said Capt. Warren Buller II, the commander of Littoral Combat Ship Squadron One.
