China has sent a patrol vessel to join the maritime standoff with the Philippines in the South China Sea, reports the Voice of America News.
The Chinese fisheries patrol ship Yuzheng 310 was sent to the disputed Scarborough Shoal on Thursday, officials said.
The ship, which is the most powerful in the Bureau of Fisheries fleet, protects Chinese fishermen in the region, said the government.
