Northrop Grumman has launched the sixth and latest unit of the San Antonio class of amphibious transport docks at its Ingalls shipyard in Pascagoula, Miss., reports the Navy NewsStand.
To be commissioned as the USS San Diego (LPD-22), the ship was more than 75 percent complete at the time of launch, further along than any other ship in the class at this point in construction, said Jay Stefany, the Navy program manager.
