President Barack Obama has nominated two general officers to head the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan, reports the American Forces Press Service.
Marine Lt. Gen. John Allen has been nominated for a fourth star and to lead the ISAF and U.S. Forces Afghanistan, Defense Secretary Robert Gates announced Thursday.
The nomination has been expected to be officially announced since late April.
