Alleged Al-Qaida Leader Pledges Allegiance To New Head Of Taliban

In an audio message released on Thursday, a man identified as Al-Qaida leader Ayman al-Zawahiri pledges allegiance to the new Taliban chief, reports the Wall Street Journal.

The voice says, "we announce our loyalty to you" -- referring to Mullah Aktar Mansour, who took command of the Taliban last month.

The unconfirmed recording was distributed on Twitter and the voice is similar to al-Zawahiri's, according to the SITE Intelligence group, which monitors jihadist activity....
