Al-Shabaab Ambushes Government, Ethiopian Troops

Local villagers say Al-Shabaab fighters have attacked Ethiopian and Somali troops in southwestern Somalia, reports the Shabelle Media Network.

Fighting broke out Thursday afternoon in the village of Yurkut on the border between the Bay and Gedo regions, said residents.

Insurgents ambushed a convoy of soldiers passing through the village, according to the unconfirmed account.

The ambush was repelled and many Al-Shabaab fighters were killed, said witnesses.
