Al-Qaida-Linked Group Claims Subway Bombing In St. Petersburg

A little-known Al-Qaida-linked group has claimed responsibility for the bombing of the St. Petersburg subway on April 3, reports Reuters, citing a monitoring site.
The Imam Shamil Battalion claimed in a statement on Tuesday that it was responsible for the blast, which killed 16 people, according to the U.S.-based SITE monitoring group.
The bomber, Akbarzhon Jalilov, acted on orders from Al-Qaida leader Ayman al-Zawahiri, said the statement.
