Afghanistan—Al-Qaida Leader Killed In Helmand Op, Says Intel Service

Afghan intelligence officials say security forces killed a senior leader of Al Qaida in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) in an operation in the southern Helmand province, reports the Tolo News (Kabul).  Asim Omar and six other Al-Qaida members were killed during a Sept. 23 raid on a Taliban compound in the Musa Qala district, the National Directorate of Security said on Tuesday, as quoted by Reuters.  Also killed in the operation was Abu Raihan, who was believed to function as an intermediary...
