Air Terrorism System With Russia Shows Progress

A joint NATO-Russian counter-air-terrorism system is on schedule to be operational by 2011, Defense News reports.

The new system, part of the NATO Russia Council's Cooperative Airspace Initiative, will have coordination centers in Warsaw, Poland and Moscow, as well as local coordination sites in Kaliningrad, Rostov-on-Don and Murmansk in Russia; Warsaw, Bodo, Norway; and Ankara, Turkey.
