The Indian air force may find itself facing a major shortage of trainer aircraft for its pilot cadets within two years, reports NDTV (New Delhi).
The air force grounded its HPT-32 basic trainer in 2009 after a series of crashes. The aircraft was has been used to begin flight training for all fighter, transport and helicopter pilots.
Since then, new pilots have begun their training on the Kiran jet trainer, which was previously used for the second stage.
