The Tunisian air force has deployed airmen to the U.N. peacekeeping mission in Mali for the first time, reports the African Daily Voice (South Africa).
The peacekeeping unit consists of 75 troops of different ranks and specialties, including the crew of a cargo plane, Defense Minister Abdelkarim Zbidi said during a farewell ceremony on Jan. 18.
Tunisian airmen will provide logistical, transport and medical support for the mission, Zbidi said.
