Air Force Seeks 83 Light Combat Aircraft; Defense Ministry Clears Proposal

India's Defense Ministry has signed off on a proposal to buy 83 light combat aircraft, reports the Business Standard (India).
Hindustan Aeronautics (HAL) confirmed on Wednesday that it had received a request for proposal (RfP) for 83 Tejas Mark 1A light combat aircraft.
The Defense Acquisitions Council approved the order earlier that day, said Defense Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, as reported in Scroll (India).
