The U.S. Air Force is in line to fly its fewest number of cargo missions in a combat theater since 2004, reports Defense News.
Yet, according to service statistics, each aircraft on average carries more cargo than it has done for years.
Over the first three quarters of 2012, the fleet transported an average of 61,244 tons, or about 4,000 tons per quarter than in 2011. This was accomplished in only 29,560 flights, according to service figures.
