Air Force Realignment Affects 14 Bases, 650 Aircraft

A wide-scale realignment will provide new missions for 14 installations and reassign or retire as many as 650 aircraft, reports the Air Force Times.
The shakeup, first announced in late July, consolidates F-22 Raptor units, assigns up to 350 F-35 Lightning IIs to four bases, retires F-16s that are being replaced by F-35s, establishes a home base for the service's MC-12W Liberty reconnaissance planes and names the Air National Guard Wings that will operate 38 C-27J cargo...
