The Indian air force has held a formal ceremony marking the phasing out of aging Mi-8 Pratap utility helicopters, reports the Indian Ministry of Defense.
The event took place on Dec. 17 at Air Force Station Yelahanka near Bangalore.
The Indian air force inducted the Mi-8 into service in 1972, with 108 aircraft acquired by 1988.
India's 112 Helicopter Unit at Yelahanka was the last of 10 operational units to fly the Mi-8.
