The U.S. Air Force has ordered eight C-27J tactical transport aircraft from Alenia North America, a unit of Italy's Finmeccanica, Defense News reports.
This latest $319 million order brings to 21 the number of aircraft ordered by the Air Force and Army, for a total value of $812 million.
The transport planes will be delivered during 2012 to L-3, Alenia's partner in the program, said Finmeccanica officials.
