As part of a cutback in personnel, the U.S. Air Force is seeking to encourage around 2,000 officers to leave the service in order to reach its authorized end strength of 332,200 personnel, reports the Air Force Times.
The service is offering several voluntary options for retraining or leaving service and also plans to reduce recruiting and officer commissionings to shed force size, said Gen. Norton Schwartz, the Air Force chief of staff.
