There is a new commander for Special Operations Command Africa (SOCAFRICA), the elite force of U.S. Africa Command, reports the Stars and Stripes.
On June 29, Air Force Maj. Gen. Mark Hicks assumed command of SOCAFRICA, which is based in Stuttgart, Germany.
He succeeded Army Brig. Gen. Donald Bolduc, who is retiring after 32 years of service.
Hicks most recently served as the chief of staff at the U.S. Special Operations Command headquarters, MacDill AFB, Fla.
