The Philippine air force says it will procure 12 fighter jets and six other fixed-wing aircraft by next year, reports the Philippine Star.
The fighters will be acquired from a supplier in Italy, Russia, South Korea or Russia, said Patrick Velez, an assistant defense secretary.
Each fighter is expected to cost about US$28 million, he said. The type of aircraft to be acquired was not disclosed.
The six fixed-wing aircraft will replace the aging OV-10 Bronco aircraft currently...
