Air Force nuclear experts at Kirtland Air Force Base, N.M., have begun to demilitarize more than 100,000 nuclear assets, the Air Force Times reports.
Under a $35 million, five-year plan, the Air Force Materiel Command is removing excess assets from the active inventory.
The assets at Kirkland are related to the Air Force's intercontinental ballistic missile, aircraft and space test programs.
