Saudi air defenses have intercepted two ballistic missiles launched by Houthi rebels in Yemen, reports Al Arabiya (Dubai).
The missiles were shot down on Monday near the western town of Taif, 30 miles (50 km) east of Mecca, and Jeddah.
The first missile was said to be directed toward Mecca, reported Reuters.
Al Arabiya said that missile fragments landed in Wadi Jalil, outside of Mecca.
